Why This Work Matters

Margaret Collins began her career as a musician and developed her passion into the role of a trusted artist manager in New York City, where she saw a consistent gap—talented creatives lacked the business skills to sustain their work.

That insight led her to found the Center for Creative Economy, where she spent 15 years building programs that helped artists and innovators turn ideas into viable businesses.

Today, through Creative North Carolina, she works more directly with entrepreneurs and partner organizations—helping build stronger businesses, stronger programs, and stronger communities.

“Margaret is a visionary leader and strong problem solver who leads with both purpose and practicality. As the founder of the organization I contracted with, she demonstrated a unique ability to navigate challenges, create thoughtful solutions, and move initiatives forward with clarity and intention.

She approaches her work with wisdom, excellence, and a deep commitment to meaningful impact, consistently turning ideas into action and challenges into opportunities.”
